The question marks surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers passing game continue as Martavis Bryant’s status for Monday night’s game vs. the San Diego Chargers is in doubt. Following a four game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, Bryant is officially cleared to compete. The problem is that the very talented Steelers wide receiver has not practiced fully since Monday.
There are rumblings that Bryant isn’t in ideal football shape after being away from the team for such a long time period. With the Steelers playing on Monday night, the extra day of practice on Saturday should provide more insight into Bryant’s status. Pittsburgh may opt to sit him out and give another week of preparation and practice before throwing him into the fire.
With Michael Vick starting in place of the injured Ben Roethlisberger for the next few weeks, Bryant isn’t looking to be as great an instant gratification stash play as many had hoped when drafting him. Bryant is a hit-or-miss WR3 with the ability to solely win or lose your fantasy games until Big Ben returns. Bryant doesn’t appear to be a smart play this week regardless of his status on Monday.
