BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ team leagues
OWNED IN: 20% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The San Francisco 49ers offense came alive in a big way in Week 2, totaling 313 passing yards and 259 rushing yards in the team's 41-17 win over the Bengals. One of the biggest contributors to the offensive breakout was wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who caught three passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in the game. He only received three targets in the game but certainly made the most of them and could be in line for higher usage going forward, especially in games where quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is forced to throw more (only 25 passes in Week 2).
The 49ers have a lot of options at receiver, but none of them have clearly stood above the pack so far. Rookie Deebo Samuel was the most targeted receiver in Week 2, reeling in five catches on seven targets for 87 yards and a touchdown. Samuel certainly has intriguing upside and could continue to have a big role going forward, but Goodwin is the veteran with a proven track record with Garoppolo. Back in December 2017, Garoppolo's first month as a starter for the 49ers, he and Goodwin were on a roll. There was a three-game stretch during that month where Goodwin was targeted 33 times by Garoppolo and reeled in 24 catches for 319 yards.
Goodwin likely won't be a pillar of consistency with the presence of Samuel and second-year wide receiver Dante Pettis also in the mix, but he's a solid add in deep leagues of 14+ teams and is worth monitoring in all formats.
