ANALYSIS: Marquise Goodwin emerged from Seattle's Week 15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers with just two catches for 10 yards. However, bigger things are likely on the horizon for Goodwin.
Veteran Seahawks' wide receiver Tyler Lockett suffered a broken finger in last Thursday's loss to the Niners. Lockett has already undergone surgery on the finger and will very likely miss one game if not the rest of the regular season.
Goodwin would be an obvious beneficiary from Lockett's absence. He would slide into the WR2 role for this Seattle passing attack. This would thrust the nine-year NFL veteran into an every-down role for the Seahawks.
The 32-year-old enters a Week 16 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs averaging a career-best 10.2 yards per target in 2022. Despite seeing just 38 targets on the year, Goodwin has efficiently produced 387 receiving yards and four TDs.
If Lockett does indeed miss Week 16, Goodwin should get a bump in volume in a desirable matchup against a Kansas City secondary that grades out just 25th in the NFL in Pass Defense DVOA. A savvy veteran with plenty of experience, Goodwin should be considered a serviceable FLEX option for fantasy managers in need of help this week.
