BALLER MOVE: Sit in 14+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR5
ANALYSIS: Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has played a significant role on the team this season. He plays a meaningful role in the Chiefs’ run game as a blocker. Furthermore, the veteran leads all wide receivers in snaps played (373) and routes run (239). However, the veteran is fifth in targets and receptions. Unfortunately, Valdes-Scantling hasn’t been fantasy-relevant since joining the team.
The veteran wide receiver is the WR87 for the season, averaging four half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has 14 receptions on 24 targets for 249 receiving yards and a touchdown. Valdes-Scantling has scored fewer than 5.9 fantasy points in all but one contest this year.
Therefore, the wide receiver isn’t worth rostering, let alone starting in any size season-long league this week. However, Valdes-Scantling does have a fantasy-friendly matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. They have surrendered 39.1 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the most in the NFL. The Eagles have also given up the most receiving touchdowns to the position.
While Valdes-Scantling isn’t startable in season-long leagues, the veteran wide receiver is an appealing DFS or betting option because of his big play ability and the matchup.
