BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ANALYSIS: Marcus Stroman pitched spectacularly getting a no decision Friday vs Tommy Milone and the Athletics. The Blue Jays lost 1-0 in 12 innings, but it wasn't an fault of Stroman's. In his seventh start of his young career the 23 year old Duke product went seven shutout innings allowing three hits three walks while striking out seven. A glance at his overall stats may be deceptive due to some bad early games in relief, but he now is 3-2 as a starting pitcher and has six quality starts in his seven starts. His line as a starter is impressive 2.09 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 39 K in 43.1 IP, making him the most recent addition to our waiver wire sleepers for starting pitchers.
This highly talented rookie, and former top MLB prospects (1st round / 22nd pick of the 2012 amateur draft) is meeting every expectation that the Jays could have imagined, and then some. A potential concern is if the Jays fall out of the playoff race, as an innings limit could come into play. But as of this writing, that doesn’t appear to be a a factor. We could care less if Stroman is only 5’9” / 185 because this young man can simply pitch. Go add him to your team now before it's too late, as he's still only owned in 22% of Yahoo leagues.
