BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 48% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Marcus Morris has gotten off to a hot start to the 2018-19 season coming off of the bench for the Celtics. Morris has seen an average of 25.4 minutes per game through the team's first six outings, and while he's been effective, it's hard to imagine his role expanding beyond that, due to the Celtics depth at the forward position. Morris will be vying for minutes against the likes of Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward and even deeper options like Semi Ojeleye.
While Morris won't be averaging 30 minutes of court time per night, he is certainly making the most of his playing time. On the year, Morris has averaged 14.4 points and 7.5 rebounds, both of which represent career highs. He's knocking down 49% of his field goal attempts, while taking 9.9 shots per game. He's making 2.1 threes per game and converting on an incredible 48.4% of his shots beyond the arc. He's also knocking down 85.7% of his free-throw attempts. Morris' shooting has been outstanding. However he doesn't provide much on the defensive end--he's averaging 0.3 steals and 0.2 blocks per game.
It's highly unlikely that his high level of play will earn Morris a spot in the starting rotation, but it will certainly prevent him from losing playing time to the role players on the end of the Celtics bench. Coach Brad Stevens is likely enthused with the way Morris has been converting on his shots, but it's unrealistic to expect him to continue to bury 48.4% of his threes. He's worth an add in most leagues while he has the hot shooting hand, but be sure to maintain realistic expectations, as Morris will eventually cool off.
