Marco Luciano is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for Week 9 (2024). Target Marco Luciano as a top prospect free-agent add for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Giants have embraced the youth movement and it's paying off in a big way so far. Luciano is the latest young player to be called up to San Francisco this week with Luis Matos and Heliot Ramos both joining the club as well.
Luciano has started the last two games at shortstop against the Rockies and is 3-8 with two runs scored and an RBI. With Nick Ahmed hurt, it's between Luciano and Casey Schmitt for playing time at the shortstop position and the Giants have a lot more incentive to give Luciano those starts as the 22-year-old is viewed as the shortstop of the future for the franchise as is the top hitting prospect in the organization.

Luciano was hitting .266 at Triple-A Sacramento over 128 at-bats with one home run and 20 RBI. He did draw 29 walks compared to 44 strikeouts and had a solid .399 OBP. He's not going to hit for much power just yet, but he should make plenty of contact and find his way on base.
He's not a prolific base stealer, but he might swipe a bag here or there, too. He's worth an add in deeper formats as he could end up sticking as the starting shortstop for the rest of the season if his audition goes well over the next few weeks.
