Fantasy Baseball Impact Of The Tampa Bay Rays Reinstating Outfielder Manuel Margot From The Injured List
The Tampa Bay Rays reinstated outfielder Manuel Margot from the 10-day injured list on Thursday afternoon, according to a tweet from the American League East club’s official communications and public relations X account:
Also per the tweet, infielder and outfielder Vidal Brujan was optioned to Triple-A in order to make room for Margot on the active roster.
Margot previously appeared in 85 games for the Rays this season, batting .249 with a .300 on-base percentage, an 84 wRC+, a .291 xwOBA, three home runs, and eight stolen bases.
A consistent presence in the Tampa Bay outfield for much of the last four seasons, Margot should see enough playing time to warrant roster spots in fantasy leagues with 14 or more teams or in deeper AL-only formats thanks to his ability to make an impact on the bases. He'll rejoin a Rays outfield group that also includes the likes of Josh Lowe, Randy Arozarena, and Luke Raley.
All that being said, fantasy managers in more standard-sized leagues are probably better off looking elsewhere for outfield help in terms of reinforcements via the waiver wire. Margot can certainly chip in with the aforementioned stolen base production. But he’s not making enough quality contact at the moment or showing promising power metrics to warrant being rostered in most leagues. The outfielder has logged just a 4.3% barrel rate so far.
