BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 33% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Mallex Smith could hit .250 this season and he would still be a great player to add; this is mainly because he will steal 45 bases along the way. Kevin Kiermaier's injury was just what Smith owners were waiting for, as he is assured an everyday role as long as he is healthy.
Smith has only swiped three bags so far, but the opportunities will be there. Tampa is 10th in stolen base attempts per game already, but that number is sure to climb with Smith on base more often. By the way, he is not hitting .250 either, as he is hitting .363 at the moment.
If Smith gets anywhere near 450 plate appearances this season (which he should with Kiermaier's injury), he is a safe bet to contribute in stolen bases and runs scored. That makes him one of the most attractive waiver wire acquisitions, especially with his strong batting average.
