Malik Monk (SG, CHA) - Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-14 team leagues / if you need three-pointers

OWNED IN: 23% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Malik Monk is coming off of an up-and-down rookie campaign and is looking to cement his role with the Hornets as a sophomore. Monk will have to compete with Jeremy Lamb and Nic Batum for minutes at the shooting guard position in the Hornets rotation, but he has still maintained a 23.5 minute per game average this year.

What you see is what you get with Monk, he is a sharpshooter who provides points and three-pointers, plus he hasn't missed a single free-throw out of 14 attempts. The 20-year-old has connected on 2.4 three's per game at a serviceable 36.9% clip and is averaging 13.4 points per game.  He doesn't offer much upside in most other categories however, averaging just 2.3 assists, 1.7 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 0.4 blocks.

If you're looking for some points or three's, Monk is a great look, but he may not contribute enough in the other facets of the game to be worthwhile in shallower leagues. His production from outside has been solid, and he's hit 24 three's this year across 10 games, standing as the second highest mark on the Hornets team, behind Kemba Walker. I'd pick him up in some 12-team leagues if you're looking for help in the three's and points categories, but otherwise he should be scooped up in 14+ team leagues.
