Malik Beasley is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 7 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 32% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Rollercoaster of a season for Malik Beasley, this one. He started the year with four consecutive stinkers, improved to a very tasty number to kick November off, then came back to hell for a week, and in the past five games he's played (getting back to Nov. 18) he's finally found his rhythm. He's playing more, he's commanding more shots, he's avoiding turnovers almost completely, and the spot-up shooting is sublime.
Beasley's last five games have been fantastic. He's playing 27 MPG a day while logging usage rates above 17% in all of those matches and averaging a slightly above-average 20.7% mark in that span. Beasley has hit at least 4 triples in four of the last five games, and he has scored 12+ points in those same four outings hitting shots from the field at a tasty 43.3% clip. Malik is hoisting 10.7 FGA on the year, but he's raised that mark to 13 FGA in the past five games while actually improving his shooting percentages after having very shaky ones earlier this season.
Nothing is going to thrust Beasley into the starting lineup barring an injury to D'Angelo Russell or Anthony Edwards, but just last Wednesday starting PG Patrick Beverley got injured after a measly 6 minutes of playing time opening the door to Beasley for getting much bulkier playing time. Pat Bevs will be re-evaluated in two weeks, so that's potentially six games missed for him at the very least. Beasley will give you tons of points, three-pointers, and good steals (almost one per game at 0.7 a pop) while also being valuable in 9-cat formats given his virtually non-existent turnovers.
