BALLER MOVE: Drop in 10-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 26% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Sometimes something doesn't feel good, but we have to do it anyway. This is where we're at with Malcom Floyd. The veteran San Diego Chargers wideout is simply not producing enough to justify a roster spot in most season-long leagues. I say most because in a 12- or 14-team league, you could probably do worse than Floyd. But hopefully you can do a lot better, too.
San Diego ranks second in the NFL in passes attempted (317). That's just over 45 passes per game for Philip Rivers, who has 398 more passing yards than other quarterback entering Week 8. And yet despite all of this prolific passing volume in San Diego, Floyd has just 17 receptions for 317 yards and one score. Floyd is just two weeks removed from a five-catch, 95-yard outing at Green Bay. But the return of Stevie Johnson from a hamstring injury this past weekend saw Floyd finish with one catch (three targets) for seven yards in a 37-29 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
Floyd is legitimately the sixth option for Rivers behind Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead, Johnson, Antonio Gates and Ladarius Green. It's difficult to justify rostering the sixth option in any offense, even a majorly productive one.
