Mac Jones (QB, NE) - Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Do we love Mac Jones as a real-life football player? Meh... Do we love Mac Jones as a viable fantasy football player? You bet. Sure thing, Jones is not going to win you the league. The sooner you accept that the better (unless you play in a molly-deep format, that is). But Jones is one of the most consistent QB2s out there with upside for QB1 games here and there, and one who has not stopped improving his outcomes since the season started.

Jones kicked off his rookie year with a couple of not-so-great performances that combined for 20.6 FP between them. He threw for a touchdown in his debut, but that was pretty much all he did in those two matches. Since Week 3 included, though, Jones has not fallen from the QB2 realm, and he's coming off his best game to date after putting up 22.2 FP last Sunday facing the Jets. He reached that tally thanks to a 24-of-36 passing performance in which he threw for 307 yards while throwing a couple of TD passes.

Again, Jones is not for everyone. Jones is only a viable play for those doing it on deeper/Superflex/2QB leagues. He's got 10 games left to rack up points, but he's going to be in the 12-to-16 FP clip more often than not. There will be spot matchups (having his best game against the Jets is no coincidence, I'm afraid) where he could go on to reach QB1 levels of play (he was the 9th-best QB of this past week (pending MNF as I write this), but that's not going to be a weekly hit. Even then, you can do much worse than playing Jones in such deep leagues ROS.
