Mac Jones (QB, NE) - Fantasy Football Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: The last drafted first-round rookie QB to be picked in the latest NFL draft, Mac Jones has left all of his fellow passers biting the dust this season while leading a not-so-great Patriots offense to the AFC East with 12 games weeks of play already in the books. Not bad for a start to a pro career, if you ask me--and Bill B, I guess. We can't say Jones has been a top-tier threat, but he's more than delivered so far and he kept it up for another week last Sunday.

Jones had his second-best fantasy game of the season against Tennessee on Sunday, but it could be argued that it in fact was his best game of the year. Mac completed 23 of 32 passes for 310 yards and 2 TDs on the day avoiding interceptions entirely. He only rushed for 11 yards on 2 carries, and that's the only thing making his FP tally read 21.5 compared to his score of 22.2 back in Week 7 (he rushed for 19 yards back then while having similar passing numbers).

Although Mac Jones had a little bit of a rough start to his career (he threw 6 picks in his first six games against just 7 TDs) he has improved a ton in the past few weeks. Jones has thrown 9 TDs in the past six games while only getting picked twice in those last six games. He won't be out there rushing the rock and handing you free fantasy points, but even with that "flaw" in his game, he's still been able to finish as a top-23 QB in nine of his 12 games, and eight of his last nine. Surefire QB2 with upside for a few QB1 outings ROS considering he's been a top-9 quarterback in three games already and all of them taking place from Week 7 on.
