Mac Jones (QB, NE) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 13

ANALYSIS: It has taken Mac Jones three months and eight games (after missing time here and there) but he finally broke for more than 20 FP this past Thanksgiving while facing the Vikings away from home. This doesn't mean he's instantly turned into a legitimate fantasy-league-winning QB, but with just a few games left he could help those in deeper leagues.

The Pats faced Minny on the road and, truth be told, they had to deal with a good bunch of problems. WR Jakobi Meyers got injured in the first play of the game. WR DeVante Parker looked banged up as soon as the second drive. RB Damien Harris suffered an injury midway through the game. On and on it went...

Yet even in the middle of all of that chaos, Jones emerged for his best game to date: 22.3 FP to the tune of 28 completions (on 39 pass attempts) for 382 yards and two touchdowns without getting picked off (though he committed a fumble). Jones didn't scramble once through the game, but it's not that he is known for rushing the ball himself.

Jones attempted a season-high 39 passes but you can think about him more as a 32-attempt, 22-completion passer going forward. That's closer to his average line, and the 382 passing yards were also (most probably) a bit of a fluke with his average at around 230.

It has been three games in a row for jones throwing 27+ passes and avoiding interceptions. He has been intercepted once in the last four games he's started and over a sample of 131 pass attempts in that span (95 completions, 4 TDs).

Thanksgiving marked the second QB1-level finish (the first one in Week 3) on Jones' 2022 game log, but he's always been a top-24 quarterback with the exception of Week 1 (9.5 FP) in games he's completed. Jones played to his ceiling last TNF, but he should be good to put up reasonable numbers for those in deeper formats and 2QB/Superflex leagues.
