Lynn Bowden Jr. (WR, MIA) - Week 16 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: It is not that the Dolphins have a bunch of pass-catching beats in their roster, but had I asked you who was going to be Miami's WR1 come Week 15 odds are you wouldn't have thought about Lynn Bowden Jr., let alone picked him. But here we are, folks. Two weeks to go (one in fantasy) and Bowden is the clear-cut no. 1 wideout of the postseason-bound Dolphins. See it to believe it.

Bowden is on a three-game streak in which he's been targeted four or more times. I know, that's not mindblowing, but in the last couple of weeks, he's seen 9 and 7 targets while catching 7 and 6 respectively for 82 and 37 yards. The only thing he's missing is scoring a touchdown, but given his usage of late, that should be just a matter of time.

After playing all of 18 snaps total from weeks 2 through 5, Bowden has played 177 in the last four games. His snap share has gone from 31 percent to 44, 71, and 90 this past Sunday against New England. Bowden shouldn't be your main WW target at the wide receiver position in most leagues, but if you're part of a super-deep one, he's definitely one to have if you're needy.

Bowden has finished all three of his "heavy-usage" games with 9+ PPR points (9.2, 15.4, and 10.6) and he can be considered a low-end WR3/FLEX play these days. Next week's matchup looks good, as Miami faces Las Vegas and its 19th-best defense against fantasy WRs. Again, only target Bowden if you're really needy at the position, and consider other higher-profile players before turning to the Dolphin.
