BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 26% of Fleaflicker Leagues
EXPERT ANALYSIS: Luke Weaver is missing bats at an increasingly impressive rate as his rookie year comes to a close. In seven big league starts, Weaver has struck out 43 batters in 33.2 IP. In the past month, his 12.4 K/9 places him behind just Robbie Ray and Danny Salazar in that span. He hasn't been a one-trick pony either, holding down a 3.21 ERA. His 1.33 WHIP needs to come down, however, as he continues to harness his control. When batters do make contact, they are tattoing him for a 36% LD% and a 3.5% HR%. That became painfully evident against the Rockies in Coors on Wednesday. Weaver gave up six ER in two innings, including a Nolan Arenado grand slam. He may remain in the bullpen for the final week of the season, but should be a hot commodity for 2017 drafts. Weaver is part of a Cardinals franchise that is known for grooming young pitchers with far less talent than him, so his upside is even that much more tantalizing.
