BALLER MOVE: Sit for Week 1
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR4+
ANALYSIS: Luke McCaffrey was drafted in the 3rd round this year, and while he looks to be a promising prospect, the Commanders have tons of question marks, and McCaffrey is still somewhat raw.
Luke McCaffrey had an impressive college career, and the trade of Jahan Dotson clears up Luke to play in the slot with Terry McLaurin outside. McCaffrey is a versatile player who should have an impact with the Commanders at some point this season.
Congrats Luke on playing in your first @NFL Football Game. Proud of you! Loved meeting your @Commanders teammates & their families after the game as well. #RaiseHail pic.twitter.com/DpzQANli1j

While McCaffrey looked good in his preseason action, he didn't play with the starters, and got his action with only 2nd and 3rd string players. This is an indication that (at least before the Dotson trade) McCaffrey has some work to do to get up the depth chart and get more playing time.
With Dotson gone, McCaffrey may get significant slot work, which would help his scoring. However, for now, it's probably better to stash him on your bench. There are too many unknowns.
Washington's passing attack may be ineffective. The offense overall could lean run heavy with Jayden Daniels' mobility. Running Backs Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson Jr. could eat into WR targets with their pass-catching ability.
In addition, McCaffrey only has two years of experience playing WR. He moved from QB to WR during the spring of 2022 and likely has room to grow, but he is somewhat raw due to a lack of experience.
For now, McCaffrey is a sit. He was likely undrafted or drafted in the very late rounds of most leagues, and you likely have better players to start. Keep an eye on him, though. If he develops, he could become Daniels' favorite slot target and be valuable in deeper PPR leagues or as an injury fill-in.
