Luis Urias

The Milwaukee Brewers optioned infielder Luis Urias to Triple-A on Thursday morning, according to a tweet a tweet from the club’s official Twitter account:

A mainstay in the Brewers lineup for each of the past two seasons prior to 2023, Urias struggled mightily at the plate this season. In 68 plate appearances for the National League Central club, the 26-year-old hit .145 with a .299 on-base percentage and a home run. He was also sporting just a .287 xwOBA and a 5.0% barrel rate on 40 batted ball events before being optioned to Triple-A.

Urias split his time evenly between second base and third base. With the infielder now heading to Triple-A, it should open up more playing time for both Brian Anderson and Owen Miller at third base.

In his first season in Milwaukee, Anderson is batting .221 with a .317 on-base percentage in 303 plate appearances so far. He’s also added nine home runs.

If Anderson does in fact see more time at third base, it’d potentially open up more playing time elsewhere for someone else on Milwaukee’s roster. Like Urias, Anderson has split time between two positions, third base, and right field. If he’s starting at third base more often, it might mean more additional time for Blake Perkins in right field.

Perkins is batting .267 with a .323 on-base percentage, two home runs, and two stolen bases in 67 plate appearances this season for the National League Central franchise and could be worth a look as a streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues.
