BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 37% of leagues
**UPDATE: 7/29 at 10:00 pm ET - Unfortunately Gurriel left today's game with a lower leg injury. He's being diagnosed with a knee contusion and ankle sprain, but no broken bones. It's still TBD how much time he will miss and if a DL stint will be needed. **
ANALYSIS: Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Lourdes Gurriel has been white hot of late. In fact, by the time you read this, it may already be too late – Gurriel’s ownership rate has skyrocketed from near-zero to its current mark over the last 24 hours. It would not be a surprise to see it climb over 50% before the weekend is over.
Gurriel has been outside his mind of late; Saturday’s showing (2-for-4, two RBI) was his tenth (!) consecutive multi-hit game. He had two home runs on Friday night, giving him three in his last five contests. You get the idea. Dude is locked in right now. The plate approach is not awesome, but so long as the hits keep falling, who cares?
Furthermore, he has eligibility in the outfield and at shortstop on top of his conventional 2B starting spot. He is a must-add in all formats and you should hope that he is still available.
