ANALYSIS: Despite playing at close to a 90-win pace thus far, the Athletics are 10 games behind the Astros for first place in the AL West, and 6.5 games back of the Mariners for the second wild-card slot. Their playoff odds aren't great, in other words, and it would likely only take one prolonged slump this month to bring them near zero. That would make Oakland's closer, Blake Treinen, a potential trade chip. He's been absolutely fantastic, but just turned 30 and will likely be seeking a hefty raise in arbitration.
Enter Lou Trivino, the A's rookie setup man who has been pretty great himself. The 24-year-old boasts a 1.41 ERA that's top 10 among qualified relievers and has fanned 42 batters in 38 innings. Impressively, he's also vultured seven wins already. That probably won't persist, but deep leaguers and others desperate for saves could do worse than speculating on Trivino, who can boost your ratios even if he remains in a setup role.
