BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 19% of leagues
ANALYSIS: It's a youth movement in Seattle, with better starts for some than others. Logan Gilbert was one of those who got off to a rocky start, but that fog appears to be clearing. The 6'6, 225-lb. behemoth out of Stetson started his rookie campaign by allowing seven earned runs through 6.2 innings in his first two starts. The next time out, Gilbert went just 4.0 IP but allowed two ER, four hits, zero walks, and collected four strikeouts. His most recent outing was his best so far: 6.0 IP, two ER, five hits, one walk, and five strikeouts, bringing his total figures to 5.94 (ERA), 1.26 (WHIP), and 3.67 (FIP).

Gilbert has had the issue of allowing power-friendly average exit velocity and high hard-hit rates, but his strikeout rate is netting about a strikeout per IP now, and his 4.1% walk rate is more than twice as good as the current MLB average. With the excellent prospect pedigree of Logan Gilbert projecting excellent things to come and having already seen him work through his rookie season struggles, he is a high-ceiling asset worth deploying in moderately-sized leagues.
