BALLER MOVE: Add in AL-Only leagues / Deeper Leagues
ANALYSIS: Left for dead just a few weeks ago, Logan Forsythe has been resurrected by the mad scientist Joe Maddon. Well, kind of. Since June 22, the Rays’ second baseman (with multi-position eligibility in certain leagues) has had seven multi-hit games including two three-hit games. During this stretch, both of his 2 HR on the season were hit, 6 of his 11 RBI have been driven in, and 7 of his 18 R have been scored. It might be an understatement to say that Logan Forsythe is en fuego… at least for Logan Forsythe standards. If you’re in an AL only league, or a deeper league that starts two second basemen (or middle infielders), think about adding him immediately. Just don’t expect his numbers to continue at this peace. He’s never hit above .273 in the major leagues and his OPS has never eclipsed .733. He’s at .253 and .647 right now, respectively. His line drive (22.3%) and HR/FB (4.3) rates are the lowest they’ve ever been, and his contact rate is right around his career average. This all translates to him finishing in the vicinity of a .260 BA, 5 HR, 25 RBI season. Adding his hot bat now makes sense, but he’s not a long term solution.
