BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 16% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Chicago White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia has led off in every start he's made for the team since May 28. He hit .268 in June and scored a total of 18 runs in the month. Garcia's been with the White Sox since 2013, but this year he's had his most sustained success and earned the most playing time during his tenure.
On the year, Garcia is hitting .292 with 58 runs. Those are the two categories where he can provide the most help. He isn't going to give you much in terms of power. While speed is one of his strong suits, that hasn't manifested itself into stolen bases quite yet. He has only eight stolen bases on the year and just one since he's become the regular leadoff hitter for the White Sox.
Garcia's xBA of .254 and his walk rate of just 3.4% are a bit concerning, suggesting both his batting average and on-base percentage could be headed south the rest of the way. However, in points leagues, he should make up for it due to his abundance of plate appearances at the top of the lineup and in categories leagues and rotisserie leagues that cover runs scored, he should also provide sufficient support from the leadoff spot. He's worthy add if you need outfield help in 12+ team leagues or AL-only leagues, but in more shallow leagues, he can be left on waivers.
