BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 10% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: At first glance, White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia doesn't look like a fantasy asset. He has almost no power, boasting a hard hit rate and an exit velocity both below the 20th percentile across the league. His hard hit rate (29.4%) is nearly the same as his strikeout rate (23.1%) and his walk rate is a paltry 3.6%, in the lowest 2% of the entire league.
So why are we writing about him? One word: speed. Garcia already has seven steals on the season, despite a less-than-ideal .316 on-base percentage. The White Sox have no reason to stop him from running to his heart's content this season.
While he's probably not going to get to Billy Hamilton levels of fantasy relevance, Garcia could easily top 25 steals this season, and 30 if he stays healthy. He won't help you anywhere else, but in 14+ team leagues where speed is a hard to find asset, Garcia is a player to keep an eye on.
