Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan has been known to have an affinity for the "ground and pound" style--a style that is predicated around having a strong running game and strong defense. Though many believe that the days of needing a strong running game to win in the NFL are over (see: Patriots, New England), it definitely doesn't hurt when two of your running backs run for over 100 yards in the same game. That is exactly what happened in Buffalo's 33-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins.
Both LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams ended the game with over 100 yards rushing, decimating Miami's defense in the process. McCoy toted the rock 16 times for a total of 112 yards rushing and a touchdown before going down with a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter. McCoy said after the game that he should be fine for Thursday night's matchup with the New York Jets. McCoy has had solid performances in the games he has played in this year, especially for those in PPR leagues. He continues to be a solid RB2 in both PPR and standard formats.
Buffalo rookie Karlos Williams also had a great game on Sunday, rushing the ball just nine times for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Williams became just the fourth player in NFL history to score a touchdown in each of his five games (he missed Weeks 5 through 7 as a result of a concussion). Williams, a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, has vastly outplayed his draft position, and will continue to play a big role in Buffalo's offense, especially if McCoy can't go on Thursday as a result of his shoulder. Williams is a high-end RB3 when he is on the field with McCoy, and a borderline RB1 when McCoy doesn't play.
