Earlier this season, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Leonard Hankerson seemed to breakout as a great WR3 each and every week. Well, he hasn’t even been on the radar the past few weeks due to injuries. And if you have been holding onto him in hopes that he’ll breakout again, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
Hankerson missed practice again on Thursday due to a hamstring injury and will not be ready to play in Week 13 after missing three of the Falcons’ last four games.
"He’s not ready yet," head coach Dan Quinn said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Hankerson can be safely dropped in redraft leagues. He only has 26 receptions for 327 yards and three touchdowns on the season. And although he did flash signs of being a reliable WR3 earlier in the season, it seems like that was more of a fluke than anything.
Dynasty owners should hold onto him for a little bit longer. He’s only 26 years old and does have talent. He just needs to figure out how to stay consistent.
Speaking of players out of action this week, the Arizona Cardinals will be without running back Andre Ellington who is suffering from a toe injury. Ellington can already been ruled out for Week 13 and with Chris Johnson out as well, that means rookie David Johnson will carry the load.
Ellington hasn’t been much of a factor this season anyways, so his absence likely won’t have a big effect on his fantasy football owners. But if you own Johnson, you should slot him in as a RB2. Heck, I’d even feel comfortable slotting him in as a RB1 in PPR leagues.
The Cardinals do have a tough matchup this week against the St. Louis Rams, but Johnson is super talented not only as a runner, but as a receiver as well. He should have a big day on Sunday.
In other news, the Cleveland Browns see Terrelle Pryor as a security blanket at both the wide receiver and quarterback positions. Pryor may never actually see the football field, so he has absolutely no fantasy value at this point – but he is worth keeping an eye on.
It’s clear that the team has given up on Johnny Manziel, so things could get interesting if Austin Davis gets hurt. Would the team let Pryor start under center, or would head coach Mike Pettine swallow his pride and give Manziel another shot?
Like I said, things could get interesting!
