BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 9% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Sometimes in life you must do the things that you never thought you would do, and this week that thing is to add Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount.
After rushing for 1,161 yards and a league-high 18 touchdowns in the 2016 season, Blount has put up a pair of disappointing seasons, and so far in 2018 he has just 183 rushing yards on 78 carries with three touchdowns. But at least for one week -- and possibly more -- Blount becomes a fantasy-relevant player again with Kerryon Johnson (knee) doubtful for Thursday's home meeting with the Bears.
Granted, the Bears aren't a good matchup for Blount, as they've allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. But Blount has a few things going for him that make him an option for fantasy owners who find themselves in an emergency: a long history of production in the red zone, a fairly clear path to carries with Johnson unlikely to play on Thursday, and the fact that the Lions were the only team this season to have a running back score a rushing touchdown against the Bears. Sure, that running back wasn't Blount, and the talent gap between the Lions top two backs is fairly wide, but Detroit's offensive line has created a lot of opportunities in the run game as of late. Blount is a decent option in standard scoring leagues this week for owners dealing with injuries or bye week issues.
