Welcome back RotoBallers to my League of Legends DFS column! We will continue to extend our analysis for LoL DFS across different leagues and sites, bringing you the insight you need to succeed. Thanks once again for the outpouring of support from the DFS and ESports communities. I can't thank you enough for the kind words on Twitter, and your support has afforded me the opportunity to write about something I love every day.
Tonight is the start of the last LCK promotion series ever; they will be going to a franchise system like the rest of the major leagues. These first-round matches will be best of three and feature the bottom two teams from the LCK fighting the top two from Challengers Korea for the right to play in the LCK in summer. The LCK promotion tournament gives us two best of three matches tonight, and there are already some massive contests posted in the DraftKings lobbies, including the 10-dollar Titan's Fury that pays 50k to first place!
Today, I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LCK slate on FanDuel and DraftKings that locks at 4:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28th, 2020. I'll be using DraftKings pricing, so check those FanDuel prices before plugging in your lineups. Make sure you are following me on Twitter @Mr_Malmanger as I often post starting lineups when I see them and other useful info for the slate.
LCK Promotions
4:00 AM: Sandbox (-305) vs. Team Dynamics
Sandbox gaming limped to the finish in the LCK spring, losing six of their last seven. Team Dynamics, on the other hand, speed run on the CK playoffs to earn their spot in the promotion tournament. In the past few years, we have seen plenty of upward mobility from the CK teams as GRF, SBG, APK, and DWG have all promoted in the last two years. Judging by their performance in the playoffs, I think we can give Team Dynamics a real chance to upset SBG here. They won't be lacking for talent with several LCK caliber players on their squad. Specifically, I like their mid-jungle duo Kuzan and Beyond, who both have previous runs in LCK.
SBG has done some swapping of positions towards the end of the split, and I don't know who will start at ADC for Sandbox. Team Dynamics have drafted well for late game, and have focused Jarvan Trundle and Sedjuani the jungle. They are a team that knows where their bread is buttered and play towards that well. If they continue with the decisive drafts and playstyle they have showcased throughout their playoffs they could be able to surprise SBG here. Playing the LCK side of both of today's matches is the smart move for cash games, but I do like the idea of taking the dog here for GPPs.
Prediction: Dynamics 2-1
Top TD Plays:
- Beyond - JNG ($6,200)
- GuGer - SUP ($5,000)
- Kuzan - MID ($7,000)
Top SBG Plays:
- Leo/Route - ADC ($7,800/$7,600)
- Gorilla - SUP ($5,600)
- Summit - TOP ($6,400)

6:00 AM: Griffin (-300) vs. Seorabeol
Griffin closed out their regular split in the LCK with some momentum on their side, but Seorabeol blitzed the regular season of CK. This match is one that can be closer than people would think. Kakao has been smurfing for SRB, and they have Sangyoon, another former LCK player looking to get back to that level. GRF has made some swaps to their lineup looking to find the right combinations. They added WADID to the roster, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him start tonight even though he was recently added. Since Lehends left in the offseason, they have lacked a veteran presence and shot-caller. Even if we don't see Wadid on the rift tomorrow, I think that GRF can take out SRB here.
The move to 10.7 has made helped out tank top-laners, and an Ornn or Maokai pick could help neutralize their disadvantages in the top lane. Viper versus Sangyoon will be a strength vs. strength matchup for the teams. Viper's Varus has been very good at the end of the split that and other scaling picks sill help GRF. I believe they will look to stall these games out with tanky front lines, and count on Viper to finish for them. I also am not a fan of SRB's mid-laner Danchung, formerly known as mala, he was awful in his last stint in a major league. Even though Ucal has struggled this split I still think he's a better mid than Sanchung.
Prediction: Griffin 2-1
Top GRF Plays:
- Viper - ADC ($7,600)
- Tarzan - JNG ($6,800)
- Ucal - MID ($7,400)
Summary
- Even though SRB is the higher seed from the lower division, I think that DYN has a better chance of upsetting.
- I wouldn't be surprised to see Wadid start for Griffin, maybe a spot to shoot your shot in large field GPPs knowing full well you're risking a zero.
- The safe and smart route for cash games is stacking spots of the two LCK teams that aren't likely to be subbed, and we should get the SBG starters pre lock to help with that.
- Play some GPPs and let's have some fun and go for an upset or a low owned sub spot.
