News from the LCK says due to COVID round two, the rest of the LCK will be moving back online as it was for a majority of the spring split, which could help the younger players hide some stage jitters.
Yesterday, T1 wasn't it chief, and they did succeed in a small way by dragging DWG deep, especially in game two. Unfortunately, they weren't able to close, so my night was over early, which was fine since the second series was a sloppy, swappy, mess. All the better for today, right! I hope so too; let's get to it.
I'll provide my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LCK slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 4:00 AM on Friday, August 21st, 2020. Make sure you follow me on Twitter @Mr_Malmanger as I often post starting lineups when I see them and other useful info for the slate.
4:00 AM: Sand Box Gaming (-315) vs. Hanwa Life Esports
I have to say I missed on my eval of this HLE squad, and I thought that bringing in Viper would bring them to the edge of playoffs. Instead, we've seen them struggle to integrate him into the team and limp to a disappointing finish. SBG has dropped too since a positive boost due to their coaching change. HLE has begun to experiment with their lineup again with DuDu (dunga) subbing into the top, Yeongjae in the jungle, and Mireu returning to the mid lane, and I'm not too fond of it. They are desperate and looking for a spark while at the same time auditioning talent for the next split.
The swaps have upgraded their early game, but at the cost of late-game decision-making, they now lack cohesion. SBG has the consistency, they have typically been a better early game team (though HLE lead in those stats over the last two patches), and they are the more talented squad. I like SBG to pick up the win in their final game of the split and adjust my stacks depending on who I mix them with. For the side of HLE, I will say they should be the lowest owned of any of our teams tonight, so if you're looking for that 10% gpp ownership, this is where you go.
Top SBG Plays:
- Onfleek - JNG
- Fate - MID
- Route - ADC
- Gorilla - SUP

7:00 AM: Team Dynamics (-235) vs. SeolHeaOne Prince
This set is another bottom of the bin clash between teams with no playoff aspirations for us to feast on as the LCK season expires. TD began the split with some promise picking up some wins and looking decent against some upper-tier competition within the league, but since their win over T1 in week four, they haven't been back to the winner's circle. They have only won three games since then and zero series. Both teams have been awful over that stretch, with SP finally showing some life in their last series by stealing a game off DRX.
The last time these two met, it was a full three-game affair in week three with TD taking the victory. The emerging 10.16 meta could benefit both of these teams with the additional top lane carry options available. I'm guessing we'll see the swap squad from SP since that was the lineup that stole game two from DWG.
Since the switch to Trigger, Mia, and Keine SeolHeaOne have been more productive early and sport a 56% to 14% lead in first over TD. The players themselves aren't more talented than the ones they replaced, but they seem to have better synergy. Ikksu and Flawless seem to have significantly benefitted from not having to force plays to the mid to get Mickey going. The set versus DRX gives SP a bit of momentum and confidence coming into the match. They will also be fiending for a win in their final match of the split. I believe that SP should be able to gain an advantage early over TD following the lead of Ikksu and Flawless, and then snowball that into a series win. If TD can weather that early storm, Rich can match Ikksu, and we could see SP fall into their old habits of disjointed fighting and losing badly.
I like SP here, but if the favorites prevail, they will likely be the top-scoring team on the slate. In any lineups with TD, I would make them your big stack and count on SP to implode, but in my SP lineups I'll look for smaller stacks.
Top TD Plays:
- Deokdam - ADC
- GuGer - SUP
- Beyond - JNG
- Rich - TOP
Top SP Plays:
- Flawless - JNG
- Ikksu - TOP
- Keine - MID
- SP Team
Summary
- TLDR - SBG and SP win. Unlike yesterday where ownership was quite (surprisingly) spread out, I believe that SBG will be a clear fav on both sites tonight. I'll have plenty of them, but see the merit to throwing out a few hedge lineups with HLE.
- The second match will likely split ownership, both for everyone else and in my own percentages. In my TD stacks, I'll go heavy with them in case SP feed as they have in the past. With SP stacks I'll go heavy on the other side since TD is good at delaying the game and prolonging its pain.
