BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 45% of Yahoo Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Vikings invested quite a bit into Latavius Murray in the offseason, and once rookie running back Dalvin Cook started playing well, it began to look as if we would never see the investment come to fruition. Unfortunately Cook is out for the year with a knee injury, and the weight of the Minnesota running game has fallen upon the shoulders of both Murray and his speedy counterpart Jerick McKinnon.
McKinnon has high value in PPR leagues, but Murray should shine in standard leagues with at least 10 teams. As a big back, he can be a solid touchdown vulture down in the red zone. McKinnon's numbers jump off of the stat sheet because of his receiving stats, but since Cook's injury, McKinnon and Murray have split carries at near 50/50, and it really feels like the Vikings like to ride the hot hand.
Murray only has one touchdown rushing this far this season, but when he explodes, he explodes, as evidenced by his 100 yard outing a few weeks back. Having a running back capable of that on standby is always worth it in our book. With all things considered, it doesn't appear that Murray provides anymore upside than a RB2 in a 12 team league, but should be a very solid plug and play against favorable matchups, especially in these last few weeks of byes, and can be a good backup to have incase of injury leading into the fantasy playoffs.
