The NASCAR Cup Series ran the Pennzoil 400 this past Sunday afternoon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with Kyle Larson having the dominant race car once again in Sin City and picking up his third career win at the track. It is also Chevrolet's third win in as many races to kick off the 2024 season.
Larson had a ridiculous Average Running Position of 1.67 during the 267-lap race on Sunday, miles ahead of anyone else. Martin Truex, Jr., who finished seventh, came in second-best in terms of Average Running Position (5.25) with runner-up finisher, Tyler Reddick, ranking third-best (5.61).
Of the top five finishers in this weekend's race, Ross Chastain had the worst Average Running Position at 16.46, which was in part due to pit road penalties and mistakes during the race. The rest of the top five guys all ranked sixth or better when it came to Average Running Position. Noah Gragson, who finished sixth, had an average running position of 16.88, as he started deep in the field and didn't get track position until late.
