ANALYSIS: LaMonte Wade Jr. is coming off a season in which he belted 17 home runs and posted a .347 wOBA with 122 wRC+. The lefty's OBP last season was an astounding .373. So what has he done for an encore in 2024? Only increased his OBP so far to an incredible .467 with a .402 wOBA and 166 wRC+ over 135 plate appearances. That OBP is the best in the majors, even 20 points better than NL MVP front-runner Mookie Betts (.445 in 209 PA).

The problem for Wade is that he's a career .191 hitter against left-handed pitching, so he doesn't necessarily play every day. In his limited action against them this year, however, he's 4-for-12 (.333) and has drawn four walks compared to just two strikeouts. With that type of on-base ability, he should be getting more regular at-bats, and lately, it seems as though he is. Wade was riding an eight-game hit streak earlier this month and has been on base via hit or walk in 16 straight games through Wednesday.

It hasn't necessarily translated to fantasy production, however, as he's got just 14 RBI and 16 runs scored on the season. The Giants are in the bottom third of the league in terms of offensive run production, but maybe that is turning around, as Wade has scored in four of his last five games. He may not be your starter for fantasy, but if you want a bench bat that you can slide into your lineup with confidence he'll get you something, Wade is available in over 80% of Yahoo leagues and is eligible at both 1B and OF, which gives you additional flexibility in where to fill a hole.
