ANALYSIS: With Justin Verlander sidelined, Kyle Lobstein was only supposed to be a temporary replacement. Instead, Lobstein has impressed in his three starts, posting a 2-1 record. He has gone deeper into the game with each start, and has yet to allow more than three runs in an outing. He also has the potent offense of the Tigers backing him, which should be reflected in his win totals. It remains to be seen if Lobstein will have a starting role once Verlander returns, but he certainly has value until that day comes. There is no official timetable for Verlander yet, which bodes well for Lobstein getting a few more valuable starts.
