Fantasy Baseball Impact Of Kris Bryant Reportedly Being Placed On The 10-Day Injured List
The Colorado Rockies reportedly placed outfielder Kris Bryant on the injured list on Tuesday, per a tweet from MLB.com’s Thomas Harding. Per Harding’s tweet, the injured list placement is due to a fractured left index finger.
In his second season with Colorado, Bryant is batting .251 with a .338 on-base percentage and eight home runs in 275 plate appearances for the National League West club. The outfielder has also logged a .340 xwOBA.
With Bryant, who has seen all of his playing time either in the outfield corners or at designated hitter this year, on the injured list, Colorado will go with Brenton Doyle, Randal Grichuk, Nolan Jones, and Jurickson Profar as outfield options, though Michael Toglia also has some experience at the position.
With the exception of Grichuk and Jones, fantasy managers should probably look elsewhere for outfield reinforcements as Doyle, Profar or Toglia have all struggled at the Major League level so far this season. Doyle has provided some fantasy value with his ability to contribute both home runs and (particularly) stolen bases, but he’s just not getting on base enough in either standard-scoring leagues or leagues that utilize on-base percentage as part of the scoring system.
- Brenton Doyle: 228 plate appearances, a .204 batting average, a .264 on-base percentage, seven home runs, and 14 stolen bases.
- Jurickson Profar: 395 plate appearances, a .239 average, a .320 on-base percentage, seven home runs, and one stolen base.
- Michael Toglia: 56 plate appearances, a .200 average, a .286 on-base percentage, and two home runs.
