Mike Scioscia announced today that left-handed outfielder Kole Calhoun would be in the cleanup spot for the long haul. This moves comes with the Angles' current 29th ranked offense as the manager is looking for a new to produce runs.
Despite missing 30 games last year with a broken ankle, Calhoun still managed to hit 17 HR out of the lead off spot while hitting for a .272 AVG. This year - while off to slow start in the power department - Calhoun who batted leadoff for most of the year is batting .417 with men is scoring position, and .395 overall with men on base.
The move also means that SS Erick Aybar will move to the leadoff spot. Aybar should see a boost in runs scored with Trout, Pujols and Calhoun batting behind him. Aybar so far on the year has batted .275 to go along with 12 RBI and 13 runs scored. In his career Aybar has a .274 AVG in the leadoff spot with a .314 OBP.
