Klay Thompson played much of his prime years for the Golden State Warriors. He won four NBA championships alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
However, injuries got in the way, and Thompson's game saw a downhill trend. Most observers say it's time for the Warriors' golden trio to break up, and in the off-season, the Warriors pulled the trigger.
Klay Thompson was sent to the Dallas Mavericks via a sign-and-trade deal. While Thompson had a quiet pre-season, his first game as a Maverick didn't disappoint.
A Record-Breaking Debut
In the Mavs' season-opener win over the San Antonio Spurs, Klay Thompson set a new franchise record.

He finished with 22 points -- connecting on six of his ten attempts from the three-point line. He became the first Mavs player to hit six threes or more on his debut. If anything, his first game alongside Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic could be a sign Klay Thompson is already comfortable with his new home after a 13-year stint with the Warriors.
Then again, it's just one game.
A Balanced Attack
Limiting Victor Wembanyama to 17 points in 28 minutes isn't a walk in the park but it helped the Mavs open the new season with a 120-109 victory.
A balanced scoring attack also enabled the Mavs to win in front of their home crowd.
Luka Doncic led the way with 28 points, ten rebounds, eight assists, a steal, and a block in 36 minutes. Kyrie Irving added 15 points, while PJ Washington scored 11 points.

Derrick Lively II added 15 points off the bench.
Still, all eyes were on Klay Thompson and how he would perform in his first game. Now that they've seen Thompson's first game as a Mav, they are hopeful he can do it more consistently.
After all, consistency is what Klay Thompson has been missing in his final years with the Warriors.
