BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 21% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The jury is still out on which type of career Killian Hayes will end up having. Will he fulfill the huge expectations and earn All-Star accolades? Will he completely bust out of the league in two or three years? Will he have a mediocre-to-average career spanning a decade playing a rotation role? We don't really know and Hayes himself isn't making it easy for us to project him.
Hayes struggled through the first games he had to start this season after Cade Cunningham decided to go under the knife and miss all year. In his first seven starts, Hayes only averaged 24 FPPG, topping that figure twice. In his next seven, he averaged 35, reaching 47 against the Pelicans on Dec. 7.
In the last month, though, that up-and-down, bouncy play has repeated itself. Good news for fantasy GMs, Hayes seems to have gotten things right as of late. In the last six games he's played (from Dec. 21 included on), Hayes has averaged 13+ PPG and 7+ APG to go with 3+ RPG. He's committing 1.6+ SPG in that span, coming off a game on Friday, Jan. 6, in which he lit up the Spurs to the tune of an 18-point, 7-dime, 5-steal, 3-rebound outing.
Hayes has shown very high highs (25-7-8 against Charlotte on Dec. 14) and very low lows (4-4-5-1 against Utah on Dec. 20), but that's part of the reason why he's available in nearly four of every five ESPN leagues as I'm typing this. The starting-PG role is guaranteed so you can do much worse than rostering/playing Hayes these days.
