Heat guard Kendrick Nunn is a worthy consideration as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 19 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 43% of leagues
ANALYSIS: I have been telling you about adding Kendrick Nunn for a while now, but it seems like more than half of you aren't listening to my words of wisdom. Shame on you, because Nunn is becoming a better fantasy play by the day. With Goran Dragic, a little bit banged up and most probably resting his butt for the postseason run (if Miami dodges the play-in or makes it there through it), Nunn is the starter for Miami at the point very much as he was last season before the bubble playoffs. That isn't changing, believe me, and Nunn will keep being a fantasy best at least for the remainder of the regular season with Miami still fighting for a better seed out East.
Nunn has played 33+ minutes in each of the last five games. That's insane, but that's correct. His true shooting percentage is at an impossibly high 65% from Mar. 21 on in 14 games played. While his season-long mark is at a lower 58%, that 65% mark would be topped by only three players in the NBA this year among those with 11+ FGA and 5+ 3PA per game: Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Michael Porter Jr. That's bonkers company.
The shooting is fantastic, and that's mostly because Nunn has gone off his mind of late hitting 3.8 3PG in the last six games averaging a silly 19.5 PPG in that span. He's adding 4+ RPG and 3+ APG to those points, but again, if you're targeting Nunn that's mostly because you need those sky-high points on a nightly basis. Nunn's efficiency numbers aren't that great in fantasy terms (just below the league average at 0.88 FP/min) but that's reasonable considering his playing time. His counting stats, though, doesn't get much better and it's not that you can add such a stud to your roster this deep into the season.
