BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 28% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Kelly Olynyk has carved out enough of a role in the Miami Heat frontcourt to be playing a career-high 25.2 minutes per game, and while Maurice Harkless could eat into those minutes upon his return, Olynyk has likely established his presence in the rotation through offensive efficiency to start the season. Through six games, he has averaged 10.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.0 steal, all the while converting on 42.9% of his 5.8 three-point attempts per contest. While his assists are down from previous years and he remains underneath the one block per game threshold, he has made up for it in part with occasional upticks in these categories, so far posting one line totaling four assists and two games with two blocks.
Even with his free-throw percentage at an abnormally-low 66.7%, he has been so efficient in scoring situations that he has reached career-high marks in both effective field goal percentage (.628) and true-shooting percentage (.635). The Heat have a few young power forwards that could vie for additional playing time, as Precious Achiuwa has gotten off to a faster start than expected, but Olynyk is currently fifth on the roster in floor time per game, and that is quite telling as to the value seen by Erik Spoelstra in his offensive accuracy. With Kelly Olynyk now getting enough minutes to contribute admirably in other categories, he has solid value in deeper leagues behind the best three-point shooting clip of his eight-year career.
