Important Practice Notes
William Byron - William Byron had a mechanical issue that the team diagnosed during practice. The No. 24 Chevrolet was fast (as expected) to start out the session at Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't too long into the session that William Byron brought his car to pit road, saying that something was off with the steering. The team found a broken suspension piece and replaced it. Because of this unapproved adjustment, Byron will have to start from the rear of the field for Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400. NOTE: It was announced that NASCAR deemed this a part issue and not a team issue, therefore Byron will keep his 9th-place starting spot and not have to drop to the rear.
Kyle Busch - Kyle Busch blew a tire during practice and got into the wall pretty hard. There was visible damage to his No. 8 Chevrolet. The team will not be able to make necessary repairs to the car in time to make a qualifying lap, meaning Busch will start from the rear of the field on Sunday.
Ty Gibbs - Ty Gibbs also had a tire go down during practice and got into the wall. He had posted some of the fastest lap times in the session before this happened. Like Busch, Gibbs will start from the rear for Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400, as the No. 54 team did not have enough time to make the necessary repairs before qualifying.
Bubba Wallace - The No. 23 Toyota failed pre-race inspection twice this weekend, which means that the car chief for Bubba Wallace's team will be ejected from the event and the team will lose their pit stall selection. Wallace will still be able to start from where he qualifies this weekend.
