ANALYSIS: Kalif Raymod's season is easy to describe in just one word: evolution. Raymond, mind you, has played five games only missing Week 2 and getting a bye a couple of weeks ago.
Raymond has gone from appearing in 8 snaps to doing so in 13, 38, 56, and lastly 53 of them (with the rates always increasing, starting at 12% up to 90% in Week 7). His targets have gone from 2 to 1, 5, 6, and 7. His receptions from zero to 1, 3, 5, and 5 again.
Most importantly for what interests fantasy GMs: Raymond has scored increasingly more FP as the season has progressed going from 0.0 to 1.4, 5.1, 9.5, and lastly 14.5 PPR points in his five games played. You tell me what's not to like about this man of mystery!
Of course, the Lions have gone through a very precarious season in terms of having to deal with injuries to all of their skill-position players. That opened the door for Josh Reynolds first, and Kalif Raymond now. Even then, injuries keep coming and Raymond is the new go-to man in town.
Raymond has hauled in five receptions in back-to-back games while getting seven and six targets in the last two weeks of play (Week 5 and Week 7 for the Lions, that is). He's racked up 38, 45, and 75 yards in his last three outings, and the only thing missing in his counter is a touchdown – it will come, don't worry.
Obviously, Raymond is just a fix to a rather larger problem in Detroit. The good news is that he should retain some fantasy-viable role in the Lions' offense at least for a while and until everybody is back available and in their proper/expected roles. Until then, you can do much worse than rostering and making Raymond your weekly WR3/FLEX in deeper leagues.
