ANALYSIS: With the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver group at full strength this week against the Cincinnati Bengals, fantasy managers don't have much reason to put K.J. Osborn in their lineups.
Last week, Osborn was targeted seven times, catching four passes for 15 yards. That was despite star wide receiver Justin Jefferson exiting the game early. Jefferson, who was returning from a seven-game absence, is expected to play on Saturday against Cincy.
Over the first five games of the year when Jefferson was in the lineup, Osborn averaged 5.2 targets, 2.6 receptions, and 33.2 receiving yards per game. The best game in that span came against the Chiefs, in the game where Jefferson was initially injured. His best performances of the year all came while Jefferson was on the sidelines.
It's clear at this point that with Jefferson and Jordan Addison both in the lineup, there's just not much room for Osborn to make an impact. Fantasy managers should go ahead and sit Osborn this week, since the only path to fantasy relevance seems to be betting on Jefferson to be re-injured during this contest. That's not a winning fantasy football strategy.
