Before Friday's trade deadline, the New York Mets traded Justin Verlander to the Astros, and he is now back in Houston. The Mets got highly-rated prospects Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford in return for Verlander, as they have waived the white flag for this season.
The Mets also traded away Max Scherzer, and their season, which began with high expectations, has descended into chaos. Verlander will now play for the team with which he has earned two World Series titles.
This article will discuss Verlander's impact on the Astros and how it will affect fantasy managers who have him on their rosters.

Justin Verlander Will Play a Huge Role For Astros
Due to injuries, the Houston Astros have had a difficult season. Lance McCullers Jr. and Luis Garcia have been ruled out for the season, so the franchise's acquisition of Justin Verlander is significant.
In 16 games this season, Verlander has a record of 6-5 with a 3.15 ERA, and 81 strikeouts, while giving up 77 hits and nine home runs. He has a rate of 7.73 K/9, just 2.96 BB/9, and a 1.14 WHIP. The former Mets star won the CY Young Award with the Astros last year, and based on his recent performance, we anticipate that he will continue to dominate for the remainder of the season.
The 40-year-old ace has pitched 42.1 innings in his last seven games with a 1.49 ERA and 37 strikeouts. He didn't start the season well due to a major muscle strain that he suffered prior to the start of the season but is now back to his usual dominance.
Astros are Getting Star Players Back at a Crucial Time
The Houston Astros have missed star players due to injuries for the majority of the season, but they are getting them back at the best possible time. Both Jose Altuve and Jordan Alvarez are back in the lineup, while Michael Brantley and Jose Urquidy are also expected to return in the coming weeks.
With Verlander also returning, the Astros are well-positioned to defend their World Series crown. With a record of 62-47 and a 7-3 record in their past ten games, they are now tied for the AL West lead with the Texas Rangers.
