ANALYSIS: Last week Austin Ekeler was dealing with an injury, so Justin Jackson received more touches than usual in the Thursday Night game against the Chiefs, racking up 13 carries for 86 yards. Firmly established as the number two running back on the Chargers, Jackson is now looking at a potentially expanded role in Week 16.
After some conflicting reports earlier in the week, Austin Ekeler was officially placed on the COVID-19 list on Wednesday. His status and availability for Week 16 is not yet clear, but Jackson would be thrust into the lead RB role if Ekeler does not play:
This is terrible news for the Chargers and for fantasy managers rostering Ekeler, but it potentially presents an incredible waiver wire opportunity in the fantasy football semi-finals as well. Jackson is a must-add for Week 16 and should be targeted as a top waiver wire option. Keep an eye out for further updates on Ekeler's status, but if he's out then Jackson is a no-brainer RB2 and must-start in Week 16.
