PROSPECT: Juan Brito, SS, Cleveland Guardians
ERIC CROSS' LATEST PROSPECT RANKING: N/A
CALL-UP ETA: Late 2024/Early 2025
ANALYSIS:
Cleveland Guardians' No. 6 prospect Juan Brito originally signed with the Colorado Rockies out of the Dominican Republic for $60,000 in 2018. After three productive college seasons in 2019, 2021, and 2022 -- which saw the young infield hit a combined .303 with 17 home runs and 109 RBI between rookie ball and Single-A -- the Rockies eventually traded him to the Guardians for Nolan Jones in 2023.
Following his arrival in the Guardians' system, Brito immediately rose the minor league ranks. He made stops at High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A last season while hitting a solid .271 at the plate with 14 HRs, 31 doubles, and 75 RBI across all three leagues. That potential is why Cleveland acquired him during the 2023 season.
#Guardians 22yr old switch hitting INF prospect Juan Brito reached base 3x tonight (2-4 BB) for Columbus as he continues his hot streak of late. He now has a 5 game hitting streak.

Despite hitting a mere .228 at the plate across 45 Triple-A games in 2024, there is still a lot to be impressed with from Brito. He already has seven HRs, 10 doubles, and 24 RBI in the first two months and has also drawn 30 walks. The 22-year-old isn't necessarily a stash in dynasty leagues right now, but he is someone to keep an eye on due to his eventual potential in Cleveland's offense in the coming years.
