BALLER MOVE: Add in 15+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 9% of leagues
ANALYSIS: 26-year-old Oakland A's starting pitcher JP Sears has been absolute money, essentially from his sophomore season at the Citadel and on. After going in the eleventh round of the 2017 MLB Draft, Sears moved through the minor leagues at a solid pace with no 2020 season, overall producing a 2.84 ERA, 0.996 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9, and 11.0 K/9 in 282 IP. In the New York Yankees and Oakland A's farm systems, Sears handled himself even better once at Triple-A Las Vegas and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, recording a 2.32 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9, and 11.1 K/9 in 101 IP across 22 games (20 starts).
Sears came to the A's via the Frankie Montas trade, and after a great MLB debut in pinstripes, he has gotten off on an even stronger foot in Oakland, initially allowing just two earned runs, seven hits, and three walks with five K in his first 10.1 IP over two starts; and just this weekend tossed another five innings with one ER, six hits, a walk, and three K, picking up another win and propelling his record to 5-0. In deeper leagues, JP Sears is a super slept-on starting pitcher option who could prove to be a real asset down the homestretch of the regular season.
