BALLER MOVE: Start in 14+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3/WR4
ANALYSIS: Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs has a perfect skill set for a PPR Scam wide receiver, possessing great quickness and savviness on underneath and intermediate routes. Downs is a great chain-mover and has chemistry with QB Anthony Richardson.
However, he's returning from an ankle injury, and though he's slated to play in Week 3, it will be his first game this season. Having missed so many practices, he could need time to get up to speed with this year's offense. Downs also has significant target competition in Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, and Adonai Mitchell.
A lack of drive-sustaining plays has been the main issue with the #Colts offense. Too many deep 3s & not enough layups.
Anthony Richardson and fans alike should be ecstatic for 1’s return. Josh Downs is a mismatch in the slot & will remind us all that layup lines are important. pic.twitter.com/T8imAjTFfP

As the above tweet states, the Colts have had issues sustaining drives. Downs' quickness and excellence from the slot should alleviate those issues, leading to longer drives, more scoring, and less need for low-percentage deep shots to set up scoring plays.
Downs is a great WR3/flex option with WR2 upside when he's fully healthy and up to speed, but for now, it's risky to start him. Stash him on your bench this week outside of deep leagues.
