ANALYSIS: Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs has had a solid rookie season. The third-round pick is the WR41 for the year, averaging 8.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has 48 receptions on 73 targets for 566 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Furthermore, the rookie has been Gardner Minshew’s favorite target, not named Michael Pittman Jr. this season.
Unfortunately, Downs has struggled with a knee injury the past few weeks. He had only three receptions on four targets for 50 receiving yards and 6.5 fantasy points in the team’s two games heading into the bye week. However, the rookie was productive following the team’s bye in Week 11.
Last week, Downs had five receptions on 13 targets for 43 receiving yards and 6.8 fantasy points. While he didn’t have a massive fantasy performance, earning a career-high 13 targets was significant.
Meanwhile, Downs faces the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. The AFC South division rivals have surrendered 30.4 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the eighth-most in the NFL. The rookie is a solid WR3 this week.
