ANALYSIS: Whether he sees limited time or not, we already know what kind of damage Josh Bell can do in just a few AB. Bell is fantastic in every aspect of making a plate appearance and has made very noticeable improvements throughout the minors since 2012. In two Single-A seasons he had a slash line of .278/.345/.447, then in two seasons at Double-A he had a .303/.370/.403, and in two seasons at Triple-A Indianapolis he has a slash line of .306/.396/.476. Through his first four seasons in the minors Bell had a strikeout percentage of 15.5% and a walk rate of 9.5%. Since he has reached Triple-A he has improved to a K% of 14.2% and is walking at an impressive clip of 12.4%. With that level of plate discipline, being able to hit for contact and solid pop, and has shown the ability to steal some bases, Josh Bell has the skills to capitalize on his call to the bigs. Also, though he has only nine MLB AB, he has a double, a HR, two walks, and just one strikeout. If there is a prospect worth taking a shot on in deep leagues, Bell certainly qualifies.
